The Montgomery County Police Department and Department of Transportation launched a joint safety campaign during National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 20–24, 2026) to enforce work zone speed and move-over laws. On April 22, MCPD conducted enforcement along Montgomery Village Avenue during an MCDOT repaving project, making 67 traffic stops and documenting 82 violations including speeding, distracted driving, and failure to move over. MCDOT began its spring paving and infrastructure repair season the week of April 13.
