MCPS Funding Would Rise 3.8%, $90M Under FY27 Proposal

Council President Natali Fani-González's FY27 budget proposal would increase local funding for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) by 3.8%, representing a $90 million increase over the prior fiscal year. This follows more than $584 million in cumulative county funding increases to MCPS between fiscal years 2022 and 2026. Teacher and staff salaries are set by the Montgomery County Board of Education, not the County Council.
