Metro Red Line Closes July 6–Sept. 6 Between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights

Metro Rail will suspend service between the North Bethesda and Friendship Heights stations from Monday, July 6 through Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, to allow construction of a new Bethesda station mezzanine connecting to the Purple Line and state-of-good-repair work at Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations. Free Metro local and express shuttles will replace train service along MD 355, operating daily during regular Metro Rail hours at 5–8 minute frequencies. Free parking will be available at North Bethesda and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro stations during the closure.
