Metro Red Line Suspended Between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights Through Sept. 6

Metro has paused Red Line rail service between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights through September 6, 2026, due to major construction to interconnect the Bethesda Purple Line station and improve the rail system. Shuttle buses are operating at all affected stations to maintain public transportation access during the shutdown. The interruption was noted in Councilmember Stewart's July 16, 2026 newsletter.
