Montgomery County Bans Sale and Planting of Invasive Bamboo

Montgomery County's Bill 26-25 will prohibit the sale, planting, and transplanting of invasive running bamboo species, such as Phyllostachys, effective July 2026. Residents with running bamboo on their property can bring removed debris to the yard trim area of the Shady Grove Transfer Station in Derwood at no cost for loads under 500 pounds.
