OEMHS Launches Multilingual Emergency Alert Translation Service
OEMHSSep 4, 2026
Montgomery County's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEMHS) has launched a web-based translation service for emergency alerts sent through the Alert Montgomery system. Users who receive alerts via text or email can click a link to access translations in 11 languages, including the county's six target languages: Amharic, Chinese, French, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The service applies to OEMHS-generated alerts such as weather warnings and shelter-in-place orders; traffic notifications are not currently included. OEMHS will promote the service during National Preparedness Month in September 2026 via social media, outreach events, and community partnerships.
