OLO Study Reviews MCPD Police Recruitment Strategies

The Montgomery County Public Safety Committee reviewed an Office of Legislative Oversight (OLO) study examining successful police recruitment strategies from jurisdictions across the country. The report identified opportunities including streamlining hiring processes, expanding cadet and internship programs, and adding a 'mezzanine' level for young adults who complete the Cadets program but are not yet eligible to become sworn officers. The committee is working with MCPD to improve both retention and recruitment.
