Police, Fire, Sheriff Share $727M in FY27 Public Safety Funds

The Montgomery County Council's FY27 operating budget allocates approximately 10% of total spending to public safety, including $384 million for the Montgomery County Police Department, $310 million for the Fire and Rescue Service, and $33 million for the Sheriff's Office. The capital budget includes $157 million for Fire and Rescue capital projects over the CIP period. The Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security received more than $7 million, plus $1.2 million in Nonprofit Security Grants.
