Pool Permit Requirements Outlined Before Construction Season

DPS Apr 14, 2026
The Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services is reminding homeowners that construction of a residential in-ground swimming pool may require several permits, including electrical, mechanical, public right-of-way, well and septic, and fire protection. Projects must also comply with applicable Zoning requirements, and private subdivision covenants — not enforced by the County — may impose additional restrictions. DPS offers free residential predesign consultations for homeowners with questions before construction begins.
