Public Hearing Scheduled on Income Tax Rate Increase

The Montgomery County Council will hold a hybrid public hearing on April 21, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. on a resolution to increase the county income tax rate from 3.2 to 3.3 percent of an individual's Maryland taxable income. The increase would apply to the taxable year beginning after Dec. 31, 2026, and all subsequent years. The proposal was put forward by County Executive Marc Elrich.
