Red Line Closes North Bethesda to Friendship Heights This Summer

Metrorail will close the Red Line between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights stations from July 6 to September 6, 2026 to complete Purple Line construction and other repairs. Free shuttle buses will replace train service at Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda stations. WMATA will hold a public information session on May 6, 2026, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at the BCC Regional Service Center in Bethesda, available in-person and virtually.
