Red Line Shutdown: Bethesda to North Bethesda, July–September

Metro will shut down Red Line service between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights stations from July 6 through September 6, 2026, for major construction. Free local and express shuttle buses will replace rail service at Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda stations during the closure. An information meeting is planned at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, 4805 Edgemoor Ln, Bethesda, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.; a virtual Microsoft Teams option is also available.
