Ride On Fleet Reaches 85 Electric Buses, Hydrogen Buses Coming
MCDOTApr 30, 2026
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) currently operates 85 electric buses within its roughly 400-bus Ride On fleet across more than 80 routes. In 2022, MCDOT received a nearly $15 million Federal Transit Administration grant to purchase 13 hydrogen fuel cell buses and build a green hydrogen fueling station at EMTOC. The new EMTOC microgrid will power that fueling station, which DGS plans to build as a next step.
