Fani-GonzálezOct 15, 2025
James Anderson, a 16-year-old student athlete at Wheaton High School, died after being struck while crossing University Boulevard in what the councilmember described as a long-standing pedestrian safety hazard. Councilmember Fani-González has formally written to the Maryland State Highway Administration requesting an update on road reclassification in District 6 and urging targeted improvements, including consolidating three uncontrolled crossings at St. Paul, Hobson, and Drumm into one signalized intersection. She also requested signalization and median safety upgrades at high-incident locations along the corridor.
