WMATA Replacing Bus Shelters at Shady Grove East Station

WMATA will replace bus shelters A, B, C, and D at Shady Grove East Metrorail Station in two construction phases: Phase 1 (Shelters A & B) runs Jan. 5–16, and Phase 2 (Shelters C & D) runs Jan. 20–Feb. 6, 2026. During each phase, affected bus bays will be temporarily closed and impacted routes — including Ride On routes 43, 53, 58, 60, 64, 65, 71, 73, 74, 76, 78, and 79 — will operate from temporary ADA-compliant stops. Bay changes are scheduled for early Monday mornings around 3 a.m. to minimize commute disruption.
