Council Committees Review Immigrant Protections 'Trust Act' Bill

The joint Public Safety and Government Operations and Fiscal Policy committees will meet on Jan. 28, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. to review Expedited Bill 35-25, the Promoting Community Trust – Immigrant Protections Act. Sponsored by the entire Council and spearheaded by Council President Fani-González, the bill would prohibit discriminatory practices against immigrants, limit county resources used in civil immigration enforcement, and require certain notices to individuals. The legislation would not change criminal law enforcement practices.
