Council Bills Target ICE Conduct, Immigrant Protections

Councilmembers Sayles, Kristin Mink, and Will Jawando introduced two bills in January 2026 aimed at protecting immigrant residents. Bill 3-26, the County Values Act, would require County staff to be trained on protecting residents' rights, while Bill 5-26, the Unmask ICE Act, limits masking by law enforcement. Both bills were announced at a press conference held in January 2026.
