Council Hosts Black History Month Commemoration Feb. 3

The Montgomery County Council will host its annual Black History Month commemoration on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in the Council Hearing Room at the Council Office Building in Rockville. This year's event focuses on the national theme "A Century of Black History Commemorations" and will include a proclamation presentation and video marking the 100th anniversary of the official establishment of Black History Month. Honorees include former County Executive Isiah "Ike" Leggett, Circuit Court Administrative Judge Karla Smith, and Commission on Remembrance and Reconciliation Chair Jason Green.
