MCPS Last Jurisdiction to Reopen After Winter Storm Fern

According to Councilmember Friedson's February 3, 2026 letter to County Executive Elrich, Montgomery County Public Schools was the only school jurisdiction still closed on the Monday following Winter Storm Fern. Friedson cited inadequate coordination between MCDOT, the County Executive's Office, and MCPS leadership as a contributing factor. He requested answers on how school bus routes, adjacent sidewalks, and student walking routes are prioritized during storm recovery.
