Council to Vote on Immigrant Protections Trust Act

The Montgomery County Council is expected to vote on Expedited Bill 35-25, the Promoting Community Trust – Immigrant Protections Act (Trust Act), at its Feb. 10 meeting. The bill, sponsored by the entire Council and spearheaded by Council President Natali Fani-González, would limit County agents' involvement in civil immigration enforcement, prohibit discrimination against immigrants in County services, and require certain notices to individuals. The joint Government Operations & Fiscal Policy and Public Safety Committee recommends enactment with technical amendments.
