Gun Violence Prevention Resolution Introduced at NACo Conference

Councilmember Sayles attended the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., where she introduced a Gun Violence Prevention resolution focused on illegally made guns and emerging firearm threats in the wake of the shooting at Wootton High School. The resolution received mixed feedback from NACo committees, with some supporting a public health framing and others recommending it be tabled. Sayles also met with Maryland Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen and several U.S. Representatives during Hill Day to present county funding priorities.
