Montgomery College Seeks $500M Capital Plan, Including New East County Campus

The Education and Culture Committee reviewed Montgomery College's FY2027–32 Capital Improvements Program on March 9, 2026 — a nearly $500 million six-year request that includes a new $63 million East County campus. The committee also received a briefing on MCPS chronic absenteeism, which showed high school rates flat at over 27 percent and disparate impacts on Hispanic/Latino, EML, and FARMS-eligible students.
