Alkaline Hydrolysis Zoning Amendment Heads to Committee

ZTA 25-09, introduced by Councilmember Fani-González in June, would amend county zoning to allow alkaline hydrolysis (also called aquamation or water cremation) as an environmentally oriented alternative to traditional cremation. The amendment received a public hearing in July and is scheduled for the Planning, Housing, and Parks (PHP) Committee on September 15, 2025, before advancing to the full Council.
