MCPD Boosts Patrols at Synagogues After Australia Attack

Following an antisemitic terrorist attack in Australia on the first night of Hanukkah, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich announced that the Montgomery County Police Department has increased patrols at synagogues and Hanukkah-related events across the county. Elrich issued the statement on Dec. 14, 2025, noting that local Jewish community members had contacted him expressing concern for their safety. The county stated it is coordinating with faith leaders, community organizations, and law enforcement.
