PS Committee Reviews Unmask ICE Act April 17

The Montgomery County Council's Public Safety Committee will meet on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. to review Bill 5-26, Police - Mask or Facial Coverings – Prohibited, known as the Unmask ICE Act. The bill, led by Councilmember Will Jawando with five cosponsors, would prohibit federal, state, and local law enforcement from wearing masks or facial coverings while on duty in Montgomery County, with exceptions for public health and key operational needs. The committee is chaired by Councilmember Sidney Katz and also includes Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke and Kristin Mink.
