Bill Would Ban Hiring Recent ICE, CBP Staff for Public-Facing County Jobs

Mink Jun 18, 2026
Councilmembers Kristin Mink (District 5) and Will Jawando (At-Large) introduced the Community Trust in County Employees Act, Expedited Bill 29-26, on June 16, 2026. The bill would prohibit Montgomery County from hiring individuals employed by ICE or CBP after October 2025 into positions that directly serve the public or hold resource-distribution decision-making authority. The restriction extends to employees of other federal agencies who were assigned to immigration enforcement duties for more than six months. A public hearing is scheduled for July 14, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.
