Community Meeting Set on Shady Grove Waste Disposal Proposal

Luedtke Aug 24, 2026
Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke and Sidney Katz are hosting a community meeting on September 2 from 7–8:30 p.m. at the MCDOT Division of Highway Services Depot (17000 Crabbs Branch Way) to discuss DEP's proposal to replace rail-based waste transport with long-haul trucking to an out-of-county landfill. The proposal, which would allow the county to close its Resource Recovery Facility (incinerator), is expected to increase truck traffic around the Shady Grove Transfer Station. DEP representatives will be present to answer questions.
