Council Proposes Stricter Data Center Rules Under ZTA 26-01

Council President Fani-González, Vice President Marilyn Balcombe, and Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles proposed amendments to ZTA 26-01, a zoning measure governing data center development in Montgomery County. The amendments would require data centers to purchase and produce 100% clean energy, prohibit the use of potable water for cooling systems, and clarify that new zoning rules apply to all current and future projects.
