County Awards $1.5M for Low-Income Climate Home Upgrades

The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, in partnership with the Office of Grants Management, has awarded $1.5 million in FY2026 HEECAP (Healthy, Efficient, Electrified, Climate-Adapted Pilot) Homes Grants to four organizations: Community Support Services, Inc.; Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland; Prathertown Community Development Corporation; and Vietnamese American Services, Inc. The grants support strategies to improve indoor air quality, home energy efficiency, and transition to all-electric home systems for income-eligible residents. DEP states the program also advances racial equity by strengthening housing for vulnerable residents.
