County Issues PFAS Health Advisory for North Potomac Stream, Pond

Montgomery County's Department of Health and Human Services issued a localized health advisory on June 15, 2026, after the Maryland Department of the Environment detected elevated PFAS levels in a small stream and stormwater pond near Great Seneca Highway and Key West Avenue in North Potomac. County Executive Marc Elrich, DEP Director Jennifer Macedonia, Health Officer Dr. Kisha Davis, and WSSC Water's PFAS Program Manager Laura O'Donnell announced the advisory at a press conference at the Leggett Executive Office Building in Rockville. WSSC drinking water has been confirmed safe; DEP staff will post signs and knock on doors to notify nearby residents and businesses.
