Elrich Condemns Delegates' Racist Video Targeting Delegate Wu

County Executive Marc Elrich issued a statement on May 14, 2026, condemning a video posted by Maryland House of Delegates members Mark N. Fisher and Brian Chisholm that accused Delegate Chao Wu of being a spy for the Chinese government and mocked his speech. Elrich called the conduct racist and xenophobic, saying Wu has served Howard and Montgomery counties with seriousness and integrity. Elrich stated that Delegates Fisher and Chisholm owe Wu an apology and that racism and xenophobia have no place in the State Legislature.
