Elrich to Sign Six-Month Data Center Permit Pause

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will sign an executive order on June 12, 2026 placing a six-month pause on the acceptance and processing of permit applications for new data center construction and development. Councilmembers Will Jawando and Kristin Mink and Climate Chief Officer Sarah Kogel Smucker will join Elrich at the signing. The event takes place at 1:30 p.m. at the Leggett Executive Office Building, 9th floor, 101 Monroe St., Rockville.
