Metro Red Line Closes July 6–Sept. 6 Between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights
MCDOTJun 29, 2026
Metro Rail will suspend service between the North Bethesda and Friendship Heights stations from Monday, July 6 through Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026. The closure enables construction of a new mezzanine at Bethesda station connecting Metro Rail to the Purple Line Light Rail, plus state-of-good-repair maintenance at Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations. Free local and express shuttles will replace train service along MD 355 during regular Metro Rail operating hours.
