Montgomery County Homelessness Down 26% in 2026 Count

Montgomery County's 2026 Point-in-Time Count, conducted the night of Feb. 4, recorded 1,120 adults and children experiencing homelessness — a 26% decrease (390 people) from 2025. The county was one of three jurisdictions in the Metropolitan Washington region to report an overall decline. Notable sub-group decreases include a 47% drop in family households and a 48% drop in unsheltered individuals, while chronic homelessness rose 14% and homelessness among residents 55 and older increased.
