PFAS Health Advisory Issued for North Potomac Stream and Pond

Montgomery County and the Maryland Department of the Environment detected elevated PFAS ('forever chemicals') levels in a small stream and stormwater pond near Great Seneca Highway and Key West Avenue in North Potomac. The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services has issued a localized health advisory warning residents not to fish, swim, wade, or allow pets in the affected waterways. WSSC Water confirmed that publicly supplied drinking water remains safe and meets all federal PFAS standards.
