PHP Committee to Review Data Center Zoning Text Amendment 26-01

Fani-González Jul 15, 2026
The Planning, Housing and Parks (PHP) Committee will meet on July 22, 2026 to review Data Center Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA) 26-01, which would establish clear definitions and limitations on data centers in Montgomery County. Council President Fani-González, Vice President Balcombe and Councilmember Sayles have put forward an amendment to the ZTA that would prohibit hyperscale data centers in all zoning classifications. The amended ZTA is intended to serve as an interim measure until a comprehensive zoning overhaul is completed.
