Plaque Honoring Charlotte Coffield Unveiled at Talbot Avenue Bridge

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Maryland Delegate Jared Solomon, and community leaders will unveil a commemorative plaque honoring Charlotte Coffield, former president of the Lyttonsville Community Civic Association, on Thursday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Talbot Avenue Bridge in Silver Spring. Coffield, a lifelong Lyttonsville resident and community activist who passed away in September 2024 at age 91, was recognized in 2019 with the County's Roscoe R. Nix Distinguished Community Leadership Award. The Talbot Avenue Bridge, rebuilt in 2024 following removal of the original structure for Purple Line construction, has historically served as the primary access point between the historically Black neighborhood of Lyttonsville and surrounding areas.
