Progress Place Opens Daytime Shelter for Homeless During Heat

During the heat emergency, Progress Place in downtown Silver Spring will open its doors during the day for unsheltered individuals seeking relief from the heat. Homeless shelters countywide will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for current residents. Outreach staff and police will encourage unsheltered individuals to seek indoor refuge; residents concerned about someone can call the 24-hour homeless hotline at 240-907-2688.
